Four metres gets the ballast out of the tent

A ballast produces heat and does not like it. Inside a grow tent it sits in exactly the conditions it copes with worst: warm air rising off the lamp, high humidity, and little room to shed its own heat.

With four metres of cable you can put the ballast outside the tent, on the floor or on the wall beside it. That removes a heat source from your tent, gives the ballast cooler air, and lets you reach it without opening the tent. Two metres is just short of that in most setups, and that gap is exactly what this version fills.

Where the cable passes through

Run the cable through an existing port or grommet, not through the zip. A cable pinched in a zip damages the sheath over time, and on a cable carrying the full lamp current that is not a detail.

Leave some slack at the connector. A lead pulled tight tugs at the connection, and that is where heat starts if something works loose.
