Reach without adding a joint

When a cable is too short the reflex is to put something in between. On this kind of link that is the worst of the available solutions.

Every extra joint in the path of the lamp current is another contact resistance, another point that can get warm and another point that can vibrate loose. It also almost always ends up somewhere you are not looking, and heat you cannot see is the heat that causes trouble.

Four metres in one piece solves the same problem without adding any of those three. That is the reason to take this length, not that four metres is better than two in itself.

Cable routing

Run the cable along a bar or a wall rather than across the middle of the room, and pass it through a cable port if it has to enter or leave a tent. Leave slack at both connectors.

Finished both ends

There is a connector at each end, so there is nothing to fit. The female end belongs towards the supply, the male end towards the device.

Why not two metres plus an extension? Every joint adds contact resistance, can get warm and can work loose. One continuous cable has none of that.
