AC Infinity IONBEAM U2

The IONBEAM U2 is a set of two 27.9 centimetre UV strips with diodes at 365 and 395 nanometres, twelve per strip. Meant to supplement your main fixture, with a controller of its own.

UV belongs to flowering, and to a schedule

This is not a lamp you hang up and forget. AC Infinity advise using UV in flowering only, and that is in their manual for a reason: during vegetative growth it adds nothing you are waiting for, while still counting toward what the plant has to handle.

Within flowering you have a choice. You can run the strips for a few hours a day or leave them on for the whole light cycle. Start with the former. The controller has ten levels and a schedule mode, so you can set a block of say three hours in the middle of the day and extend it later if your crop takes it well.

Coverage depends on how hard you drive them, which is what makes this set useful. Two strips at 30 centimetres above the crop cover 60 by 60 centimetres at half power. To light 120 by 60 or 90 by 90, the same two do it at full power. You are not buying a fixed area, you are spreading a quantity of UV across the space you choose.

Do not look into the strips while they are running, and wear eye protection when working underneath them.

How does it differ from the U4?
The number of strips. This set of two suits areas up to 90 by 90, the U4 covers 120 by 120 and 150 by 150.
