AC Infinity IONFRAME EVO6 (500W)

The IONFRAME EVO6 is a 500 watt bar fixture with 1680 Samsung LM301H EVO diodes, built for a 120 × 120 cm growing area. Its 500 watt SOSEN driver detaches, and an extension cable is supplied so you can mount it elsewhere.

The driver belongs outside your tent

This lamp cools passively, without a fan. That is quiet and maintenance free, but it also means all its heat goes straight into the air around the fixture. Within that fixture the driver is the hottest single component, because that is where mains voltage is converted to what the diodes need, and conversion never happens without losses.

So AC Infinity separated the driver from the frame and supplies an extension cable with it. Mount it on the outside of your tent and its heat never gets in, which also means your extraction never has to take it out again. You remove the hottest component from the space, and it costs you nothing in light.

On the smaller models that is a tidy bonus. At 500 watts in a 120 × 120 cm tent it becomes a real consideration, particularly in summer or in a loft, where your extraction is already working hard. Two things to sort out first: give the driver a dry spot with room around it, and run the cable through an existing port rather than cutting a new one.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to mount the driver outside the tent?
No, the lamp runs perfectly well with the driver on the frame. Mounting it outside saves heat in your tent, nothing more.

Does the fixture itself get hot?
It gets warm, as any passively cooled lamp does. Keep the space above the frame clear so the heat can escape.

Why do I see 1074 diodes quoted somewhere instead of 1680?
That is a misreading circulating in the trade. 1074 is the number of 3000K diodes, the total is 1680.

Could this lamp go in a smaller tent?
For 90 × 90 cm the EVO4 is the right size. The EVO6 would put out more light than the canopy there can use.
