The ATS 300W Pro delivers 816 µmol/s at an efficiency of 2.7 µmol/J and is meant for a square 100 × 100 cm growing area.

Fifty percent more watts, sixty-one percent more light

Set this lamp beside its smaller sibling and something happens that you would not expect. The ATS 200 draws 200 watts and gives 508 µmol/s. This one draws half as much again, 300 watts, and gives 816 µmol/s. That is not fifty percent more light but sixty-one.

The difference is efficiency. The 200 reaches 2.5 µmol/J and the 300 reaches 2.7. In a larger fixture the diodes sit further apart and each one is driven a little more gently, and gently driven diodes give more light per watt. Stepping up therefore buys you two things at once: more power, and a lamp that uses that power better.

Why this is worth knowing: it changes the arithmetic of choosing. A lamp that looks fifty percent heavier on paper takes you further than that fifty percent in practice. The reverse holds too, though: scaling up to a lamp far too large for your space does not hand you that gain, because light landing beside your canopy does not count. Choose the tent size first, then use differences like this to choose within it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the larger lamp also the more efficient one?
Because its diodes sit further apart and run more gently, which yields more light per watt.

Does that hold for every brand?
No. In some ranges efficiency stays flat across the whole line. Check the quoted µmol/J per model.

Can I hang it in a 120 × 120 cm tent?
300 watts gets tight there. For that size look at the Zeus 465W Pro.

What separates this from the Zeus range?
Efficiency above all. The Zeus models sit at 3.1 µmol/J against 2.7 here.
