Bars you can take off yourself

The bars on this fixture attach to the frame with magnets rather than screws. That sounds like an assembly detail, and it is one, but it changes two things you only come to value after a few years.

The first is cleaning. A bar you can lift off the frame gets cleaned on every side, including the underside where dust collects and where a cloth otherwise never properly reaches. On a screwed-together panel you end up polishing only what you can see.

The second is what happens when something fails. On a one-piece fixture a dead section is the end of the whole lamp. On a build made of separate bars the question becomes whether Lumatek supplies that bar on its own, and at the point of a fault that is the difference between a repair and a new purchase. Ask before you buy, because the answer can vary by model and by year.

One practical note: take the lamp off its hangers with two people when lowering it. Sixteen kilos on an extended frame is more awkward than the same weight in a compact package, and the magnets hold the bars during use but are not a handle.

Can I replace a single bar?
Mechanically you can take one off. Whether spare bars are available is up to Lumatek, so ask when a fault occurs.

Do the magnets really hold the bars?
During use, yes. Do not use them as a handle when hanging or lowering the fixture.

Do I have to remove the bars to clean it?
You do not have to, but it is the only way to reach the undersides properly.

Will my tent frame carry 16 kilos?
Check your tent's rating and add the filter and fan. Spread the weight over two rails.
