No fan, and why that counts in a grow room

This lamp sheds its heat passively: the diodes sit on an aluminium profile that takes the heat up and gives it to the air. There is no fan. That looks like a detail but it matters in three ways.

A fan is the first thing to fail. It is the only moving part in a lamp, it runs the same hours as the diodes, and it sits in warm air. LEDs last tens of thousands of hours; a small fan often does not. If it stops, the lamp runs hot and output falls before you work out why.

A fan draws in dust. There is always some about in a grow room, and it settles on the cooling fins. Clogged cooling works less well, which makes the diodes hotter, which lowers their efficiency and life again.

And it makes noise. With one lamp that is bearable, but it is a continuous sound alongside your extraction.

The trade-off is that passive cooling needs space: the profile has to give its heat to the air around it. So do not hang the lamp tight against tent fabric or under a shelf, and make sure air can pass over the top.
