The FC-E6500 is a 730 watt bar fixture producing 2044 µmol/s, meant for a 120 × 120 cm growing area in flower. The fixture folds for transport and weighs 17 kilos.

A lamp is bought for years, not for one grow

With lighting this size the conversation is usually about micromoles and watts, and rarely about the question you only ask three years later: is it still working, and what happens if it is not. For a component that runs twelve to eighteen hours every day, that is a strange blind spot.

Two things are worth asking before you buy, from any brand. First the warranty term and what it actually covers: the fixture only, or the driver as well, because on an LED lamp the driver is the part that gives up first. Second whether individual parts remain available once the warranty has run out. A bar or a driver you can replace turns a fault into a repair rather than a new purchase.

There is also something within your own control. Diodes fade slowly rather than fail outright, and that fading speeds up with heat. A lamp hung with room around it, with a clean heat sink, and not permanently at a hundred percent, simply holds its output longer. That is the same reason passive cooling is an advantage here: there is no fan inside to give out before the lamp does.

Frequently asked questions

Which part usually fails first?
The driver. So always ask whether it falls under the warranty and whether it can be bought separately.

Do diodes fail suddenly?
No, they give gradually less. Heat speeds that up, so cooling and cleaning extend the useful life.

Is passive cooling better than a fan?
For longevity yes, because there is no moving part to fail. It does mean keeping the space above the bars clear.

Can my tent frame carry 17 kilos?
Check your tent's rating and add your filter and fan to it. Spread the weight over two rails.
