Breaking load is not working load

This hanger carries two figures that sit far apart: the cable has a minimum breaking load of 135 kilos, and the hanger is rated to 20 kilos. That looks contradictory and it is not.

Breaking load is the force at which material gives way in a test. Working load is what you may hang day to day, and it sits deliberately much lower. The gap is the safety factor, here over six times, and it covers everything a test rig does not measure: a shock when somebody walks into it, material weakened by years in a warm humid tent, and a load that never hangs perfectly evenly.

So hang to the 20 kilos, not the 135. Reading a breaking load as a load rating builds a setup with no margin, and the first time something jolts rather than hangs is exactly when that margin should have existed. The 135 kilo figure is not a promise about what you may hang, it is a property of the cable.
