At 95 watts the P600 is the smallest lamp in Viparspectra's P range: a flat panel with a dimming knob on the side, meant for small growing spaces from around 40 × 40 cm upward.
The only lamp that fits a 40 × 40 tent
On paper a 40 × 40 cm tent asks for somewhere between 50 and 70 watts. That sounds like a simple search until you start measuring: almost everything under 95 watts is a supplemental bar or a power supply, and the few real grow lamps in that class are wider than the tent itself. The limit here is the size of the fixture, not the wattage.
The P600 solves it from the other end. The panel is small enough to genuinely fit, and the knob on the side takes you back down to the level such a tent wants. So you buy 95 watts and use less of it during the early weeks, which is exactly the intention. Without that dimmer this wattage would be too much over so small an area.
One more thing about sizes in this class. Small lamps are not designed to the centimetre, and there is no sharp line between 40 × 40 and 60 × 60 cm where this one suddenly stops being suitable. Hang it in a 60 × 40 or a 60 × 60 and it still does the job, just less generously in flower. Move toward 90 × 90 cm and it is no longer the right lamp.

Frequently asked questions
Is 95 watts too much for a 40 × 40 cm tent?
At full power, yes. That is what the dimmer is for, particularly through the first weeks.
Why not simply buy a 60 watt lamp?
Because that class barely contains real grow lamps that also fit a tent this small. Fixture width decides the choice here.
Can it go in a 60 × 60 cm tent?
Yes, though flowering gets a little thin. For that size the P1000 or the XS1000 are also worth a look.
How many micromoles per second does this lamp give?
Viparspectra publishes no dependable output figure for the P range, and the numbers they quote in different places contradict each other. So we print none.
