Viparspectra XS2000 240W

The XS2000 is the largest panel in the XS range: 240 watts with Samsung LM301B diodes, drawn around a long growing area of roughly 120 × 60 cm.

The knob is on the lamp, not on the driver

It sounds like a trivial detail until you have spent a grow with the alternative. On many panels in this class the dimming hides on the driver, sometimes behind a screw you have to turn with a small screwdriver, with no scale and no sight of where you end up. The XS2000 has a rotary knob on the side of the fixture.

The consequence is that you actually use it. A dimmer you have to operate with the tent open, with a screwdriver, by feel, stays in practice exactly where it was. A knob at eye level you will turn down when you put cuttings under the lamp, and back up when the crop is ready for it. That is precisely why a grow light has a dimmer in the first place.

Two practical points. When hanging it, start low and work up rather than the other way round, because a crop given too much light only shows it days later. And write down the setting you use, since the knob has no readout and after a few weeks you will not remember where you were.
