The reading comes from where your plants are

Climate in a grow tent is not a single number. Just under the light it is warmer and drier than down at the pot, air sits still in the corner behind the filter, and between those two spots you can easily find a few degrees and ten percent. So a meter clipped to the tent bar at eye level measures, very accurately, the climate on the tent bar at eye level.

That is what the 3.66 metres of cable are for. You hang the display where you can read it, outside the tent or on the cabinet beside it, and you put the probe where you need the answer: at leaf level in the canopy, or in the exhaust duct if what you want to know is what you are blowing out. The probe sits in a steel sleeve and refreshes quickly, and zip ties and a mount come in the box to fix it in place.

What VPD means here

Alongside temperature and humidity this unit shows VPD, vapour pressure deficit. That is not an extra sensor but a calculation: the gap between how much moisture the air could hold at that temperature and how much it actually holds. Two rooms at the same humidity but different temperatures have different VPD, which is exactly why a humidity figure on its own will sometimes steer you the wrong way.

What the app adds

Bluetooth pairs the unit with the AC Infinity app. There you read remotely, set alarms for temperature and humidity, get a notification on your phone when a value drifts out of range, and calibrate the readings. The app keeps the history as graphs and exports it as CSV, so you can lay a week or a whole grow side by side afterwards.

It also works without a phone: the screen shows current values and tracks the day's high and low. That last part is often more useful than the live reading, because a spike at three in the morning is one you will never catch during the day.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from the B2?
The B2 measures the climate wherever the unit itself hangs and has no probe. With the B1 the probe is separate, so you can read in one place and measure in another.

Does it work without a phone?
Yes. The screen shows the values and the daily extremes with nothing paired. Alarms, graphs and CSV export do go through the app.

Does this unit measure leaf temperature?
No. There is no leaf sensor on it. The VPD figure is calculated from the measured temperature and humidity.

Can the probe go inside a duct?
That is one of the places the cable length is meant for. Do mind the operating limits: the unit itself should stay between -10 and 50 degrees.

How accurate is it?
AC Infinity publish the measuring range but no tolerance in degrees or percentage points, so a figure is deliberately absent here. The app does let you calibrate the readings yourself.
