A compact climate meter with a backlit display, a built-in sensor and Bluetooth. No cable, no separate probe: you hang it up and it measures.

Where you hang it is what you measure

This is the whole trade against the version with a probe, and it is a measurement decision rather than a practical one. The sensor sits inside the case, so the position of the unit is the position of the reading. Hang it outside the tent because that is where you can see it, and you are measuring the room instead of your grow.

So do it the other way round. Put it at the height where the answer matters, usually level with the canopy, and accept that reading it means going into the tent. Which you rarely need to: over Bluetooth the same values sit on your phone. For anyone watching one space rather than comparing two spots at once, this is the simpler instrument: no cable through a zip, no jack that can shake loose, nothing you can forget to plug in.

Measuring range and operating temperature are not the same thing

The specifications carry two temperature lines that look at first like an argument. The measuring range runs from -8.9 to 90 degrees. The operating temperature runs from -10 to 50 degrees.

Both are correct, because they describe different things. The measuring range is what the sensor can read, the operating temperature is what the electronics and the screen can survive. So the second figure is the one that decides where you may hang it. It can read ninety degrees, but you do not put it in a space that gets that hot.

What the screen and the app show

The backlit LCD shows temperature, relative humidity and VPD, and tracks the day's high and low. VPD is a calculation from the two measured values rather than a third measurement: it tells you how much room is left between what the air could hold at that temperature and what is already in it.

The app adds alarms, push notifications on sharp peaks and dips, calibration of the readings, graphs of the history and CSV export. The unit runs on two AAA batteries and sits on a kickstand, on a wall screw or magnetically against a metal surface.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a probe later?
No. The socket for the corded probe is on the B1 only; this model does not have one.

Where is the best place to hang it?
At the height whose climate you actually want to know, usually level with the canopy. Not outside the tent, or you are measuring the room.

Do I need the app?
Not to measure. The screen works on its own and tracks the daily extremes too. Alarms, notifications, graphs and export go through the app.

What is VPD and why is it there?
Vapour pressure deficit, the gap between what the air could hold at that temperature and what is in it. Two rooms at the same humidity but different temperatures have different VPD.

Can it live in an unheated shed?
Only while it stays between -10 and 50 degrees there. That is the operating temperature, and it is narrower than the measuring range.
