What PWM and 0-10V mean

A dimmable grow lamp has a control wire telling it how brightly to run. There are different ways of saying that, and your lamp understands only one of them. Which is why several adapter types exist rather than one universal one.

0-10V is the simplest: a voltage between zero and ten volts sets the level. Two volts is low, ten volts is full power. It is an analogue signal and the standard in much professional lighting.

PWM works differently. The signal switches on and off very rapidly, and the ratio between on and off sets the brightness. Half on and half off gives half power. Digital, and less troubled by voltage loss over a long cable.

This Type-A adapter supports both. That covers the large majority of modern dimmable grow lighting, including Mars Hydro, Spider Farmer and Volt.

What you can do once it is connected

Your lamp becomes part of your climate control. Alongside light cycles and schedules you can make brightness respond to temperature and humidity. If it gets too warm, your lamp can dim back rather than leaving your extraction to fight the heat alone.

How do I know whether my lamp uses PWM or 0-10V?
It is in the manual or on the driver. Type-A supports both, so for this adapter you do not need to find out.

My lamp has bare dimming wires and no RJ plug.

Then Type-B is the right one, made for older drivers using resistance dimming.

Can I switch my lamp on and off with it?
