A 20 ml sachet at exactly 1413 µS/cm. The standard reference nearly every EC meter is calibrated against.
A conductivity meter calibrates at a single point, and on most meters that point is 1413 µS/cm, that is, EC 1.413.
Why 1413 specifically
The number looks arbitrary and is not. It is the conductivity of a precisely defined potassium chloride solution at reference temperature, and because that composition is fixed, the value is reproducible anywhere in the world. Meters from different brands therefore calibrate against the same standard.
It also happens to be practical: 1413 µS/cm is EC 1.4, which sits in the middle of the range you grow in. So you calibrate close to the values you actually work with, and that is exactly where a calibration is most accurate.
An EC sensor drifts far less than a pH electrode, so frequent calibration is unnecessary. What does matter is cleaning: a film of salt or biofilm on the electrodes puts your reading off. Always recalibrate after cleaning.
Technical Specifications:
- Value: 1413 µS/cm (EC 1.413)
- Volume: 20 ml

Frequently asked questions
Will this suit my meter?
Nearly any EC meter with single-point calibration. If you measure in a much higher range, 12880 µS/cm suits you better.
How often should I calibrate my EC meter?
Far less often than a pH meter. Monthly is generous, and always after cleaning the sensor.
Can I calibrate a Truncheon with it?
Not calibrate, but check. Those meters are factory set and cannot be adjusted.
