A frequency inverter for motors of 0.1 to 1.5 kW, rated to 7 amps. Stepless, with a temperature sensor, and no hum.
Look at the kilowatt figure, not just the amps
On an ordinary controller you choose by amps. On a frequency inverter there is a second figure, and it is the one that really matters: rated motor shaft power in kilowatts.
The difference is worth understanding, because two fans drawing the same current can have different motor ratings. A frequency inverter drives the motor directly and therefore needs to know what kind of motor it is dealing with. A current figure alone does not say enough.
The range is divided on that basis:
- T3: 0.1 to 0.6 kW, 3 A. For a single smaller box.
- T7: 0.1 to 1.5 kW, 7 A. For the heavier boxes hanging in most grow rooms.
- T15: 0.1 to 3.3 kW, 15 A. For large installations or several motors.
Find the motor power on your fan's rating plate. If it only gives a wattage for power consumed, bear in mind shaft power comes out lower, because a motor does not turn everything it draws into movement. When in doubt, go one size up.
At 1.5 kW this T7 covers the large majority of common fan boxes, including the heavier versions found in bigger rooms.

Frequently asked questions
My fan does not state kW.
It usually states a wattage. Divide by 1000 for a rough figure in kW, and choose with headroom. A 500 watt box then sits around 0.5 kW consumed.
What happens if my motor is too heavy?
The controller trips on overload, or fails over time. When in doubt, choose the T15.
Can I use it later for a heavier fan?
As long as that stays within 1.5 kW and 7 A. Above that it is the wrong size.
Is a frequency inverter more efficient?
At low settings, yes, because no power is lost as heat the way it is with voltage control.
