A 20 ml dosing syringe for products you dose in larger amounts.
The plunger is the part that wears
A dosing syringe looks indestructible, and the barrel is. What does wear is the rubber seal on the plunger, and your accuracy depends on it.
Two things attack that seal.
Dried nutrient. Whatever stays behind after use dries into a crust between plunger and wall. The syringe then runs stiff and jerky, and a jerky plunger means you cannot push the last millilitres out under control. Usually you force it, and then you overdose.
Aggressive products. pH down and pH up are concentrated acids and bases, and hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidiser. They attack rubber slowly. Left standing in the syringe, considerably faster.
The routine that solves it is short: draw clean water twice after use and squirt it away. That costs five seconds and extends the life considerably. Then store it with the plunger pushed in, not pulled out.
If the plunger drags or catches, replace the syringe. They cost almost nothing, and a syringe you cannot dose smoothly with does the opposite of what you bought it for.

Frequently asked questions
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Better not. Heat deforms the plunger. Rinsing with clean water works better.
Can I dose hydrogen peroxide with it?
Yes, provided you rinse straight afterwards. Never leave it standing in the syringe.
Why has my plunger suddenly gone stiff?
Almost always dried nutrient. Warm water and patience help, but at some point replacing is cheaper than cleaning.
