Full power or minimum: how this control works

This is the most important thing to know before buying, because this controller works differently from most temperature-driven controllers, and you notice the difference immediately.

Most climate controllers are stepless: the warmer it gets, the harder the fan runs, moving smoothly through everything in between.

This controller has two states:

• Below your set temperature your fan runs at the minimum power you chose with the dial.
• Above your set temperature it goes to full power, and stays there until the temperature falls back below your setting. Then it drops to the minimum again.

What that means in practice: you hear your extraction step up and drop back, with nothing in between. That is not a fault, it is how it was designed.

Who it suits perfectly well:

• Rooms where noise does not matter, such as a shed or a garage.
• Setups with generous extraction, where full power is rarely needed so the controller sits at minimum most of the time.
• Anyone wanting an affordable step from manual to automatic without spending a hundred euros.

If you work inside a house and want a flat, quiet sound, choose a stepless controller. The price difference is substantial, but so is the difference in behaviour.

Set your minimum power high enough that your motor keeps turning and there is always a baseline of air exchange, even when it is cool enough.
