Reads temperature in two places at once: at the unit and at the end of a 1.5 metre sensor cable. With humidity, min/max memory and a clock.
The Garden Highpro Thermo-Hygrometer Medium adds one thing to the base model that changes a great deal: a remote sensor. Range -10 to 50 °C and 25 to 90% relative humidity, accurate to ± 1 °C and ± 5% RH.
Why the temperature at the canopy is different
A meter usually hangs where you can read it: at eye level, on the wall, by the tent zip. Your plants are not there.
Inside a grow room there are large differences between spots half a metre apart, caused by three things at once. Warm air rises, so it is hotter at the top than the bottom. Your lamp radiates heat, so just under it is warmer than air temperature suggests. And your extraction pulls an airflow that passes some places and not others.
The result is that the value on your wall meter and the value at your canopy can easily be several degrees apart. Measure only at the wall and you are steering on a number your crop never experiences, and the tops are precisely the part closest to the lamp, so they suffer first.
With the sensor on a 1.5 metre cable you put the measuring point where you need it and keep the display where you can read it. That is the whole gain: you no longer have to choose between measuring well and reading easily.
In practice: hang the sensor among the leaves at canopy height, out of direct lamp light and not right in front of a fan. Move it up as your crop grows.

Frequently asked questions
Does the remote sensor measure humidity too?
No, it measures temperature. Humidity is read at the unit itself, so hang that somewhere representative of your space.
Where exactly should the sensor go?
At canopy height, among the crop, out of direct lamp light. That is the temperature your plants actually meet.
Is 1.5 metres enough?
In a normal grow tent, yes: the unit hangs outside or by the zip and the sensor reaches into the canopy.
What is the difference from the Premium?
Mostly the display size. The Premium has an XXL screen you can read through your tent's viewing window, plus a date display.
