A 2 litre measuring jug with a handle, graduated in 20 ml steps. For mixing and transferring larger quantities.

Residue is the problem, not the size

The bigger the jug, the more surface there is for things to cling to. At 2 litres and 150 mm across that is a lot of wall, and it is where the maintenance problem of a large measuring jug lives.

Nutrient concentrates that dry on leave a film that simply comes along into your next solution. With a product you were dosing anyway, that is merely inaccurate. More troublesome is residue from a different product: you then add something unintended without noticing, and go looking later for why your EC or pH does not add up.

What works:

  • Rinse with warm water straight after use. Fresh residue rinses away in seconds; dried residue needs a brush.
  • Let it drain upside down rather than standing upright, so no pool is left in the base.
  • Put it through the dishwasher occasionally. Polypropylene takes it, and it deals with build-up that rinsing will not shift.
  • Limescale from hard water comes off with a diluted acid, followed by a thorough rinse.

Note the 20 ml graduation. This jug is meant for large quantities. Small doses belong in a smaller jug.

Frequently asked questions

Can I measure small doses with it?
Better not. At 20 ml per division this jug is too coarse for additives. Use the 250 ml, graduated in 5 ml steps.

Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes, and that is the easiest way to stay ahead of build-up.

Does polypropylene stain from nutrients?
Some products leave discolouration over time. It does not affect the measurement, but it does make the scale harder to read.
