What a camera sees that a sensor will not

Your Nido measures acidity, conductivity, temperature and humidity, and warns you when something leaves your limits. Yet there is a whole category of problems no sensor picks up, because there is nothing there to measure.

• A fallen plant or a branch bent over after a growth spurt.
• A leak that is visible as a puddle long before it measurably affects your water level.
• A lamp that did not come on: your timer thinks it did, your plants know better.
• Leaf discolouration, the earliest sign of almost any nutrient problem, and something you see with your eyes and with no probe at all.
• Or simply that everything looks normal: which after a remote alarm is the first thing you want to know.

That last one is the most used function in practice. An alert on your phone tells you that something is happening; a look through the camera tells you how bad it is and whether you need to get in the car.

No, it is intended as part of a Nido setup.

Does it see in the dark?
During the dark period there is no light. To look then you need a light source. Use green light, which disturbs the dark period least.

Where should I put it?
So that both your crop and your equipment are in frame. A corner of the tent usually gives the widest view.

Does this replace my sensors?
No, it complements them. Sensors see what is measurable; the camera sees the rest.
