Who this size is genuinely for

This is the top of the range, and it is fairer to start with who does not need it.

If you run one tent with an extraction fan and perhaps an intake, you will rarely exceed 4 or 8 amps. The 16 amp version then does exactly the same work as the smaller models, because the technology is identical. You would be paying for capacity you never use.

Where this size does belong:

• Several heavy fans on one control. Two large extraction fans plus circulation in the same room, for instance.
• A room at commercial scale, where the ventilation is built to match.
• A setup you know will expand, and you would rather not buy twice.
• Fans with a high startup current, where the starting peak is the deciding factor rather than the running draw.

The technology is the same as the 4 and 8 amp models: software decides the control, the heavy transformer delivers the power, and your fan stays quiet rather than humming. The light sensor is available separately here too, for behaviour during the dark period.

Everything on one control does mean everything runs at the same speed. To drive two rooms independently you need two controllers, however heavy this one is.

Not better, just rated higher. The control and the noise behaviour are identical.

A good deal, because of the transformer. Mount it somewhere that can take the weight.

Do I need a dedicated circuit?
At 16 amps you are at the upper limit of what an ordinary domestic circuit provides. Have an electrician assess it before connecting everything.
