What manual control does and does not do
This is the simplest way to slow a fan down, and it helps to know where the limit is before you buy.
What you get: your fan runs at the speed you choose and stays there. No sensor, no automation, no settings to forget. For several uses that is exactly right:
- Circulation fans, which you want at one steady speed anyway.
- An extraction fan that is simply too strong for your space and needs turning down.
- A setup where conditions barely change, such as a cellar at a stable temperature.
- As a fallback when your main controller fails.
What you do not get: control that follows conditions. If your room warms up, your fan carries on at the same speed. If it cools, likewise. In a grow room whose temperature swings across the day, that means choosing between extracting too much when it is cool or too little when it is warm.
There is an answer to that, and it is the clever part of this device: connect the separate Smart NTC sensor and this controller becomes a fully automatic temperature-driven fan controller. So you can start small and expand later without buying a new controller.
