SMSCOM SPC 8A MK2

An automatic climate controller for fans, rated to 8 amps. Successor to the well-known SPC 7A, with a connection for expansion modules.

The SMSCOM SPC 8A MK2 controls your fan speed on temperature. Intake and extraction fans can go in any socket on the unit, which makes connecting it simple.

The two modes, and when you want full power

The controller has two modes: automatic and 100%. That second setting looks redundant on a device bought precisely for automatic control, and it is not.

Automatic is your normal running: the controller finds the speed that holds your set temperature.

Full power exists for the moments you want all the air you have, whatever the thermometer says:

• After spraying, when you want the room cleared quickly.
• During a humidity spike, after watering or at the end of the dark period, where the temperature is low enough but the air is too wet.
• When commissioning your installation, to see what your fans do at full power and whether your filter is restricted.
• When the sensor fails, so your extraction keeps running while you find the problem.

That last one is the reason to know the mode exists. A controller steering on temperature with a failed sensor does not know it is wrong. Being able to override manually is your safety net.

Does it matter which socket each fan goes in?
No. Intake and extraction can use any socket on the unit.

What is the difference from the 16 amp version?
Only the maximum load. The functions are the same.

Can I expand it?
Yes, with the SPC SLAVE 16A MK2. Up to five fit on one controller.

Will my extraction keep running if the sensor fails?
Switch it to 100% manually. That is one of the reasons the mode is there.
