Blossom Builder Tabzz are effervescent tablets for the flowering period: you drop one or two into a hundred litres of feed water and there is nothing to measure. One misunderstanding comes attached to them and is worth clearing up first.

It is not the same finisher in tablet form

The name is almost identical to Blossom Builder Liquid and the packaging belongs to the same line, so it is natural to assume you are buying that liquid in solid form. You are not, and the difference sits in precisely the figure you would choose a PK product on.

Atami publish PK 32-20 W/W for the Tabzz and PK 18-23 W/W for the Liquid. So the ratio is not merely different, it is inverted: in the tablets phosphorus is the higher element, in the liquid potassium is.

That makes them two different products under one name. Phosphorus and potassium do not do the same job during ripening: phosphorus sits in the energy economy and in building what gets stacked, potassium in water management, in moving things there and in the firmness around them. Which of the two you want to emphasise is a decision, and here you make that decision by picking a format. That is unhelpful, which is why it leads this page.

A tablet wants a big reservoir

The dose is one to two tablets per hundred litres of feed water. That is the second reason to choose the format deliberately rather than treating it as convenience.

With a reservoir of a hundred litres or more it genuinely is convenience: no syringe, no measuring cup, no spilling a concentrate. You drop the tablet in and it fizzes away.

With a ten or twenty litre reservoir it does not work. One tablet is meant for fifty to a hundred litres, and an effervescent tablet does not break neatly into fifths: it crumbles, and the crumbs are not equal. Anyone growing on a small scale is better off with the liquid, and that is not a second choice but the right one for that reservoir size.

Practically: a box holds sixteen tablets. At one to two per hundred litres that comes to eight hundred to sixteen hundred litres of feed water, which for most growers is several cycles.

When to use them

Atami developed the Tabzz for the flowering period and ripening. On a short bloom you start from the fourth week. Dissolve them in your nutrient solution after your base feed is in, and give them time to dissolve fully before you water.

Then measure your EC. A PK value of 32-20 is substantial, so your solution gets noticeably heavier and you may need to pull your base feed back a little rather than only dosing on top.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same finisher as the liquid Blossom Builder?
No. The tablets are PK 32-20 and the liquid is PK 18-23, so the phosphorus to potassium ratio is inverted.

I have a twenty litre reservoir, can I break a tablet?
Better not. An effervescent tablet breaks unevenly and is meant for fifty to a hundred litres. On a small reservoir the liquid version is the sensible choice.

How many tablets are in a box?
Sixteen. At one to two per hundred litres that is eight hundred to sixteen hundred litres of feed water.

When do I start?
During the flowering period and ripening, from the fourth week on a short bloom.

Do I need to adjust my base feed?
Measure your EC once the tablet has dissolved. At a PK of 32-20 it rises noticeably, and pulling back a little is often wiser than only dosing on top.
