Atami - B'cuzz Coco Nutrition A+B

B'cuzz Coco Nutrition is Atami's two-part base feed for coco, used throughout the cycle. The reason a separate coco feed exists is one Atami explain themselves, and it is a better argument than "matched to coco".

Coco is full of potassium and almost free of calcium

Coco substrate is not neutral. It naturally holds a high level of potassium, which is released slowly from the coco peat as your crop progresses. At the same time coco coir naturally contains almost no calcium.

That is not a detail but the whole difference from potting soil. A plant on coco is getting potassium you did not give it and missing calcium you have to. A feed that ignores that leaves a grower wondering why the young leaves are distorting while the EC reads fine.

So Coco A carries roughly 4% calcium, which Atami say is more than enough for coco substrates. Coco B contains mainly phosphate and the necessary micronutrients.

There is another side to that potassium release. Because the substrate itself gives up potassium, what sits in the root zone changes over the course of a crop even if you feed the same mix every time. That is why growers on coco measure their drain rather than only their input.

Why it is two bottles

Atami give the reason themselves: certain nutrients react chemically with each other at high concentration, and so they are supplied in two separate bottles. A and B are not two steps in a schedule but two halves of one composition that cannot share a bottle.

One instruction follows, and it is the most important thing on this page. Never pour A and B together in concentrated form. Put A into your water first, stir it through well, and only then add B. That way each part gets enough water to dissolve into before it meets the other.

Atami describe this as mixing them "together and simultaneously in water", by which they mean both must go into water and never directly into each other. We use the wording that leaves no room: A into the water first, stir, then B.

Dose and use

Daily, 1 to 3 ml of Coco A and the same amount of Coco B per litre of water. Use water at room temperature, around 21 °C; cold water straight from the tap dissolves concentrated salts less well.

You adjust the dose to the plant and the crop. Young cuttings and seedlings take less than a full-grown plant in flower, and the way to steer that is to measure your EC rather than count bottles.

Atami publish no single consistent analysis for this product. Several NPK values, pH ranges and EC ranges circulate in the trade that contradict each other, and without a statement from Atami themselves we repeat none of them. What is settled is the dose, the calcium content in A, and the division of labour between the two bottles.

What it goes with

Atami recommend using bio-stimulators alongside the base feed. Within their own line, on coco that means the coco version of the Bloom Stimulator and the Coco Booster.

The bottles are sealed under the cap and packed light-tight. On a concentrated feed you will use for months, that is shelf life rather than packaging talk.
