Silicon is everywhere, and almost none of it counts

After oxygen, silicon is the most abundant element in the earth's crust. It is in sand, in glass, in practically any soil you dig into. So the question that goes with it is not whether there is silicon in your pot, because there is.

The question is whether the plant can reach it. And the answer is usually no.

Most of the silicon in soil is locked into quartz and silicate minerals: crystal lattices that barely dissolve. A root takes up nothing that is not dissolved in water, so all that silicon may as well not be there. What does count is the small fraction drifting about as dissolved silicic acid in the soil solution, and how much that is depends on your soil type, your pH and how you water.

That is the entire reason this product exists. You are not buying silicon, because you already have it. You are buying silicon in a form the root can actually take up.

On an inert substrate the story changes

In potting soil you at least still have a medium that slowly releases something, however slowly. Grow in rockwool, coco or clay pebbles and that reserve is not there: an inert substrate by definition supplies nothing. Whatever silicon is in your root zone is precisely what you put there.

That does not automatically make a silicon additive more important on inert media, but it does make the sum more honest. In soil you are topping something up. In rockwool you are supplying all of it.

What silicon does for the plant

Atami stick to what can be said: silicon strengthens the outer layer of leaf and stem, improves resistance to disease and stress, gives a firmer and thicker stem, and regulates nutrient uptake.

The thread running through that is abiotic stress: setbacks that come not from insects or fungi but from heat, drought and salt. That is also where the effect is clearest. Under calm, stable conditions you notice little from a silicon feed; it is a margin you draw on when things go wrong, not a growth accelerator you see every week.

In use

Shake well before use. Add 0.1 ml per litre of nutrient solution, a ratio of 1 in 10,000, and do so daily from the growth phase up until flowering.

That is a very dilute dose, so measure it with a syringe rather than the cap. For a ten-litre reservoir it comes to one millilitre.

Usable on any substrate, in irrigation systems, and as a foliar feed. Measure your EC and pH after everything is mixed.
