Atami - Rokzbastic

Rokzbastic is Atami's heaviest liquid PK, at a PK value of 10-20, for the final weeks of flowering. Two things can be said about it straight away, and both cut against what the name and the shelf suggest.

The name says rock, the product does not

Rokzbastic sounds like a product for rockwool, the way Bloombastic sounds like a product for flowers. Only the second is true. Atami specify Rokzbastic for hydro, coco and soil alike, and for manual as well as automatic irrigation systems. There is no substrate it belongs to and none it is barred from.

The name is about the result Atami claim, hard and compact tops, not about what you grow in. Worth saying, because a coco grower reading the name will otherwise walk past the bottle.

It comes AFTER Bloombastic, not instead of it

This is where most pages about these two bottles, ours until now included, missed the point. Atami write it on their own product page: use Rokzbastic right after Bloombastic to maximise the effects of both products.

So they are not two ways of filling the same final weeks, they are two stages of one ripening. Bloombastic can run through the whole bloom and is recommended by Atami for the last four to six weeks; Rokzbastic they place in the fruit and ripening phase, inside those same last four to six weeks, following Bloombastic.

The warning Atami print beside it belongs with that. Two high-PK products add up in your reservoir, so keep an eye on the EC of your solution. Rokzbastic raises it noticeably, which means you will probably have to pull your base feed back a little rather than simply adding another bottle.

Why the ratio is 1 to 2

Rokzbastic carries twice as much potassium as phosphorus. Atami explain what that ratio is for: plants with a long flowering period or a high potassium requirement. They name bell peppers, chillies, citrus and red tomatoes, and large-flowered ornamentals such as hibiscus, roses and orchids.

That is a sharper profile than "more yield". Potassium is the element a plant uses for water management, for moving sugars to wherever they are being stacked, and for the firmness of the tissue around them. A plant that keeps flowering for a long time keeps that demand up at the point where phosphorus use is already past its peak.

Alongside the PK there is 1% iron plus other vital elements. And like Bloombastic, Rokzbastic is low in ballast substances: barely any sodium and chloride, the two that raise your EC without feeding anything.

In use

The dose is 0.5 to 1 ml per litre of water, together with your base feed, during the fruit and ripening phase in the last four to six weeks of flowering.

Build the dose up gently rather than starting at 1 ml, and measure your EC once everything is mixed. Experienced growers can work out the dose per plant from the NPK values, which is exactly why Atami publish the value rather than only a number of millilitres.
