Bio G Power - Coco A+B

Coco A+B is Bio G Power's two-part base feed for growing on coco. The honest version of this page starts with what the manufacturer publishes about the difference from their ordinary Base A+B, because it is almost nothing.

The same NPK, one different figure

Bio G Power give Coco A+B a combined NPK of 3-3-6. For their Base Nutrition A+B they give exactly the same: 3-3-6.

The dose is the same for both, 1 to 4 ml of A with an equal amount of B per litre. Both say to halve it on pre-fertilised potting soil. Both put the EC at 1.2 to 2.5.

The only published difference is the pH target: 6 for this coco version, and 5.5 to 6 for the Base A+B.

There may be more to it. Manufacturers publish far from everything, and a coco feed has good reason to bring extra calcium, for instance, since coco is naturally poor in it. But Bio G Power do not write that down, so neither do we.

So what are you actually choosing on

Your substrate, and that pH target. If you grow on coco and use the Bio G Power line, this is the bottle they run for it, and that is a perfectly good reason to take it.

What you should not expect is a measurably different composition from the ordinary Base A+B, because they do not claim one. Choosing between the two on coco, the practical difference is that you steer to 6 rather than to 5.5 to 6.

Two bottles, and the order

A and B are two halves of one composition and do not belong together in concentrated form. Add A to your water, stir it through well, and only then add B. Never mix them undiluted.

Always use them in equal parts: as much A as B, at every feeding.

In use

1 to 4 ml of A and the same of B per litre of feed water, at a pH of 6 and an EC between 1.2 and 2.5. On pre-fertilised potting soil, halve the dose.

That 1 to 4 ml range is wide because you steer by your EC rather than by millilitres. A young plant sits at the bottom, a full-grown plant in bloom at the top.

On coco there is a further reason to watch your run-off: coco holds little and is watered often, so what happens in the root zone changes faster than it does in potting soil.
