A very fast-acting potassium fertiliser for acute shortages. 15 to a maximum of 100 ml per 100 litres of water. Note: this raises your EC.

The manufacturer warns you about your EC

The label carries something few fertilisers state so plainly: it raises EC. That is not small print but the heart of how you handle it.

Potassium in mineral form is a salt, and every salt you put in your tank counts towards your conductivity. Add this on top of a complete feeding schedule and you push your total EC up while only meaning to adjust one element. At the maximum of 100 ml per 100 litres that is a noticeable shift.

In practice: measure your EC before adding this and again afterwards, and if necessary compensate by easing back on your base feed. Otherwise you solve a potassium shortage and create a salt problem.

Fast is the whole point here

Bio G Power describe this as a very fast-acting potassium fertiliser for resolving acute shortages. That word acute is deliberate: this is a bottle you reach for when something is wrong, not one that runs in your weekly rhythm.

The range of 15 to 100 ml per 100 litres belongs to that. More than sixfold between low and high, with a ceiling, is the dose of a correction whose size depends on how bad the shortage is.

Start low. In excess, potassium displaces other elements, and an over-generous correction creates a new problem that looks the same on the leaf.

How potassium firms up cell tissue

The mechanism Bio G Power describe is mechanical and clear. Potassium strengthens cell tissue by drawing water into the cell. That water uptake builds pressure inside the cell, and that cell pressure is what gives the tissue its firmness.

It is the same reason a plant short of water goes limp: there is no pressure left in the cells. Potassium is the element that regulates that pressure, which is why a potassium shortage shows limp or ragged leaf alongside the discolouration.

For ripening it means firmer flowers and firmer tissue, and that is what most people buy it for.

When you do not need this

If you run a complete feeding schedule, there is already potassium in your base feed and in practically every bloom booster. A separate potassium feed is then duplication, and with the EC effect on top, duplication here is not harmless.

This product is meant for the case where your schedule falls short and you have established that, not for the case where you want more potassium because potassium sounds good.

In use

Mix 15 to a maximum of 100 ml per 100 litres of water, that is 1.5 to 10 ml in 10 litres. Measure your EC before and after.

Store the bottle frost-free and dark, and out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

How much will my EC rise?
That depends on your dose and your source water, so measure it. Bio G Power give no figure but do warn explicitly about the effect.

Do I need this alongside my base feed?
Usually not. There is already potassium in your base feed and in bloom boosters. Use this when you have established a shortage.

Why does potassium make tissue firmer?
It draws water into the cell and builds cell pressure. That pressure gives the tissue its firmness.

Can I give too much?
Yes. An excess of potassium displaces other elements, and the maximum of 100 ml per 100 litres is there for a reason.

How much is that in a 10 litre tank?
1.5 to a maximum of 10 ml.
