Epic Boost, not Epic Bloom

Hy-pro's two Smart boxes look identical and both hold three 100 ml bottles. They are not interchangeable, and the reason sits in the bottles themselves.

Hy-pro make their boosters per substrate: Epic Boost for hydro, Epic Bloom for soil and Epic Blast for coco. The Rootstimulator exists in the same three versions. Only the Spraymix is the same product in both boxes.

That is unusual. With many brands the base nutrient is tied to the medium while the additives are general; here the whole range is split. So two of the three bottles in this box are calculated specifically for an inert medium, and in soil you would be using them beside the point they were made for.

In practice: when ordering, look at the word after the product name rather than at the box. Boost and Bloom differ by one letter on the shelf and by a whole medium in the contents.

What is in the box

• 100 ml Rootstimulator Hydro, for the root system.
• 100 ml Epic Boost, the flowering booster in its hydro version.
• 100 ml Spraymix, for application over the leaf.

There is no base nutrient in it. This box goes alongside a feed you already have, or alongside the Hy-pro Hydro A&B bought separately.

Dosing

The three bottles follow the same ratios as in the soil box, in their hydro versions: the Rootstimulator at 2.5 ml per litre in growth and 5 ml in bloom, Epic Boost at 1 ml per litre from week four of flowering, and Spraymix at 5 ml per litre over the leaf every other day. Shake the bottles before use. In hydro growing it pays to check your values after adding, because an inert medium absorbs nothing on your behalf.
