Narcos Coco A+B 1 liter

A two-part mineral base nutrient made specifically for growing on coco: 1 litre of A and 1 litre of B, together covering the whole vegetative and flowering cycle. Both bottles dissolve on contact and pass through a drip system without sediment.

Why this nutrient does not fit in one bottle

Put the two labels side by side and the answer is there in figures. Bottle A carries all the calcium, 2.5% CaO, with zero sulphur and zero phosphorus. Bottle B carries all the sulphur and phosphorus, 1.82% SO3 and 2.58% P2O5, with zero calcium. That split is neither accidental nor marketing.

Calcium and sulphate together make gypsum, calcium and phosphate make calcium phosphate, and neither dissolves to any useful degree. In a full tank of water those compounds are dilute enough that nothing happens. In undiluted concentrate it does happen, and it settles out as a white grit. The grit is not the problem: the problem is that the calcium your plant needed has gone into it and will never reach a root.

From which follows the only correct working order. Add A to the water, stir, and only then add B. Never A and B together first, not even briefly, not even in a measuring jug.

What coco does to your calcium

Coco is not a neutral carrier. Its fibre holds exchange sites occupied by potassium and sodium, and it trades those for calcium and magnesium out of your feed solution. The result is that a plant in coco runs short of precisely those two elements while you are feeding it normally.

That is why the A bottle carries calcium alongside the nitrogen, and why a coco nutrient is a different product rather than a soil nutrient with a different label. It is also why fresh coco is usually sold rinsed or buffered: the less sodium left in it, the less your feed has to compensate for.

Dosing

A and B always go in at equal amounts. Run 2.5 ml per litre of water during the early weeks and move to 5 ml per litre after about three weeks. Stir thoroughly and let the solution stand for a couple of hours. Narcos give a pH of around 6 and an EC between 1.2 and 2.5 as targets; measure those only once both bottles are in.

Frequently asked questions

Can I premix A and B together in one jerrycan?
No, and that is the single most important rule on this page. In concentrate, the calcium from A binds with the sulphate and phosphate from B into compounds that barely dissolve. You get white sediment, and the calcium your plant needed is sitting in it.

There is white sediment in my tank. Now what?
Stop using that solution and mix a fresh one. It forms when the concentrates meet undiluted or when pH has drifted high. Add A and B separately, each into water you have stirred through.

Can I use this on soil as well?
You can, but it was not built for it. Soil supplies calcium of its own, so the extra calcium in the A bottle is not doing anything for you there. For soil and open ground, Comp 1 is the sensible choice.

How much feed does this set make?
At 5 ml per litre of each part you get 200 litres of nutrient solution, and twice that during the early weeks.
