Narcos Comp 1 1 liter

A one-part mineral base nutrient in a 1 litre bottle, carrying the major and trace elements for both the vegetative and the flowering phase in a single solution. You feed from one bottle, from the first week to the last.

One bottle means one fixed ratio

With a two-part nutrient you decide how much A and how much B your plants get. With Comp 1 that ratio is fixed inside the bottle. Add the label figures together and you land on roughly 2 nitrogen, 2 phosphorus and 4.5 potassium, and your plant gets that same ratio in week two as it does in week eight.

What you do control is strength. More Comp 1 in the same water means a higher EC, less means a lower one. So you steer with concentration rather than with composition, which is exactly why this nutrient belongs on a substrate that buffers for itself: calcareous soil and open ground supply the calcium and absorb the swings. On a medium that holds nothing, the feed has to deliver everything, and a single fixed ratio runs out of road.

Where Comp 1 belongs, and where it does not

Narcos rate Comp 1 for growing on calcareous soil and in open ground, indoors as well as out, in pots as much as in the garden. The concentrate dissolves on contact, so it passes through a drip or flood system without trouble.

Growing on coco, choose Coco A+B instead: coco trades calcium and magnesium for potassium and sodium, and a coco feed brings that calcium along separately. Growing on rockwool or another inert medium, you need a two-part base feed for the same reason. Narcos supply that as Hydro A+B, sold here as part of the Starter Kit Hydro A+B XL.

Dose to EC, not to the cap

For the first weeks you run 2.5 ml per litre of water, one part in four hundred. From around week four you move to 5 ml per litre, one in two hundred. Mix into the irrigation water, stir thoroughly and let the solution stand for a couple of hours before you feed.

Those two numbers are a starting point rather than a rule. Narcos give a pH of around 6 and an EC between 1.2 and 2.5 as target values, and your tap water already contributes part of that. So measure after mixing, and correct pH only once the nutrient is in. One litre of concentrate makes 200 litres of feed at full strength, and twice that during the early weeks.

Frequently asked questions

How much feed does this bottle make?
At 5 ml per litre you get 200 litres. During the early weeks you dose half that, so the same bottle yields 400 litres. For a pot grow, one bottle covers it comfortably.

Can I use Comp 1 on coco?
Better not as your base feed. Coco holds on to calcium and magnesium and releases potassium and sodium in exchange, so your plant ends up short of exactly those two. Coco A+B is built for that medium and carries the calcium in its A bottle.

Do I still need to adjust pH?
Yes, and always after the nutrient is in the water. Narcos give a pH of around 6 as the target. During flowering you can use pH- Bloom for that, which brings a little phosphorus along with the acidification.

Why let the solution stand for a few hours?
It gives the salts time to dissolve fully and lets the pH settle. Measure straight after stirring and you are reading a value that will still move.

Is this suitable for a drip system?
Yes. Comp 1 dissolves on contact and leaves no sediment, which is why Narcos recommend it for drip and flood systems in particular.
