A growth booster for the vegetative period. 1 in 2000, so 50 ml per 100 litres of water, and you stop the moment flowering begins.

A window of a few internodes

On the No Mercy grow schedule, Grow Sensation appears at internodes 5, 6 and 7. Before that the plant gets no feed at all, and after that it disappears from the schedule again.

That is a short window and it is chosen deliberately. It starts at the point where enough leaf has formed to drive a positive photosynthesis: from then on the plant can process more than it consumes, so extra supply really does turn into extra growth. Giving it earlier does not work, because the engine is not turning yet.

It ends where flowering starts. That is not a wind-down but a hard stop, and the reason is below.

Why you have to stop

If you keep giving Grow Sensation during flowering and fruit set, the internodes go on stretching. The plant keeps reaching at exactly the moment you want it compact and putting weight into the tops.

That is the problem in one sentence: the product still works, you just no longer want the effect. A booster that stopped doing anything you could simply forget about; this one you have to switch off.

If you run a system that reuses drain water, refresh the contents of the system at the point where you stop. Otherwise the product keeps circulating after you have finished with it.

For growers who keep the veg period short

No Mercy call this product particularly suited to growing methods where the vegetative period is kept short, and that makes sense. If you only have a few weeks to build your structure, every day the plant can grow at full speed counts.

With a longer growth period it can still work out surprisingly well, they say, but the gain is relatively smaller there, simply because you have the time anyway.

The order in the tank

Grow Sensation goes in first, before your base feed. Then you bring the EC to the value you want with the base feed, and only once everything is in do you adjust the pH to what your crop needs.

That order is not arbitrary. If you set the EC first and then add a stimulator, your reading no longer matches what is in the tank. The No Mercy schedule spells it out twice: Grow Sensation first, then Sweet Jane 1.

In use

Mix 50 ml per 100 litres of water, a ratio of 1 in 2000. In a 10 litre tank that is 5 ml.

According to the schedule the EC in this window runs from 0.7 at internode 5 to 0.8 and 0.9 at internodes 6 and 7, at a pH of 6.0. Grow Sensation supplies part of that; you make up the rest with your base feed.

No Mercy recommend following it with Bloom Sensation as soon as flowering starts, so the plant moves into the next phase under good conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I keep giving it in flower?
The internodes go on stretching. The plant keeps reaching at the point where you want compact growth instead.

Can I give it to my cuttings already?
The schedule only starts at internode 5. Before that there is not enough leaf for a positive photosynthesis, so it achieves little.

How much is that in a 10 litre tank?
5 ml. The ratio is 1 in 2000.

Why the booster first and the EC second?
Because otherwise your reading does not match the contents of your tank. Set the EC once everything is in, and the pH last.

I use a system with drain reuse.
Then refresh the contents of the system at the point where you stop giving Grow Sensation.
