Atami - B'cuzz Bio Defence

A set of two 250 millilitre bottles, Bio Defence 1 and Bio Defence 2, based on plant extracts and essential oils. It is not a choice between two products, nor a two-stage treatment: they belong in the same sprayer, at the same time.

Two components, one spray

Both components go into lukewarm water together. Never apply them separately and never undiluted. That is the single most important thing to remember about this product, and it is also the most common mistake: people finish one bottle and then start the second, which gives you two half treatments instead of one whole one.

Lukewarm water, not cold. Essential oils mix poorly in cold water and float rather than disperse, which makes the first half of your pass too strong and the second half close to nothing.

It makes the plant unappealing

The action is not in killing but in deterring. The extracts and oils invigorate the sap flow and harden the tissue layers of the leaf. A firmer, less succulent leaf is a less attractive place for thrips, spider mite and aphid to settle, and that is the intent.

It also means you should not rely on it against an infestation already in full swing. As a deterrent it works beforehand and under low pressure; once things run away you need something that deals with the population present.

Spray in the dark, both leaf surfaces

Spray the top and underside of the leaf thoroughly during the dark period, lamps off. Essential oils on wet leaf under a running lamp cause leaf damage, and the underside is precisely where thrips and spider mite sit.

Usable on soil, coco and in all hydroponic systems, whatever nutrient brand you otherwise run.

Can I finish bottle 1 and then start bottle 2? No. Both components belong in the same water at the same time. Using them separately gives you two half treatments.

Why lukewarm water? Essential oils disperse poorly in cold water and float. Your first pass is then too strong and the rest too weak.

Will it help with an infestation already present? Only to a limited extent. The action is deterrent and works best before pressure builds.

Does it fit any feeding schedule? Yes, it is a foliar spray and is independent of your nutrient brand or substrate.
