A folding waterproof tray of 80 by 80 centimetres with a 10 centimetre wall, in black plastic. Holds around 64 litres to the rim.

Why folding is the whole point

A rigid 80 by 80 centimetre tray is a sheet eighty centimetres wide. It will not go through an ordinary interior door of seventy-two centimetres, will not turn a stairwell, and will not go into a grow tent that is already standing.

That last case is what this tray exists for. You put a tent up with its floor sheet in place, and if you then decide you want a waterproof base under it, the tent has to come down again. A Flextray folds into a package that goes through the zip, and you unfold it inside.

The same goes for storage. Out of season a rigid 80 by 80 tray leans against a wall in the way; this one lies folded on a shelf.

What you pay for that is on the rigid version's page: at twelve centimetres it is deeper and holds more. If you want maximum capacity and the tray does not have to pass through anything, the rigid plant tray is the better buy. If it has to get in somewhere, there is no alternative to this one.

What it fits under

Eighty by eighty centimetres is one of the standard tent sizes. Because the walls give, the tray can be worked into a tent of exactly 80 by 80: push the sides in slightly and the base lies flat.

Beyond that it works as a waterproof base under a growing system, under a group of pots, or as a working tray when potting on.

What fits on it in pots

On 80 by 80 centimetres you can stand four square 18 litre pots, nine 11 litre, or sixteen 7 litre. Do not leave pots standing permanently in collected water: the substrate draws it back up.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit an 80 by 80 cm tent? Yes. The flexible walls can be pushed in slightly so the base lies flat.

Does it stay waterproof at the fold? The tray is built waterproof. How a fold behaves after years is not stated anywhere, so avoid folding it in the same place every time if you move it often.

What is the difference from the rigid 80 cm plant tray? That is 12 centimetres deep rather than 10 and holds nearly 13 litres more, but it does not fold.

Can I use it as a reservoir? As a shallow catch tray, yes. It is not meant to be a pressurised reservoir.
