From here the pot gets wider, not deeper

The 39, the 55 and the 75 litre are all exactly as tall as this one. They differ only in base size: 36, 43 and 50 centimetres square against 28.5 here. That is a deliberate choice by the maker, and a sensible one.

A pot that gets deeper gets wetter at the bottom. Water sinks through the substrate until gravity and the material's own pull balance out, and that saturated layer at the base is always roughly the same thickness whether the pot is 30 or 60 centimetres tall. The taller the pot, the larger the part standing too dry and the smaller the share sitting right. Going wider solves that; going taller makes it worse.

For you that has two practical consequences. Your lamp distance no longer changes when you swap between the large sizes, because every plant starts 30 centimetres off the floor. And you can mix sizes without introducing a step in the canopy.

Twenty-five litres in practice

With a 28.5 centimetre base you fit nine on a square metre if they touch, six or seven if you want to reach between them. It is the size for a plant grown on properly before flowering, or for a mother plant that has to be cut back a few times without repotting.

The Aqua Breathe layer

The layer sewn into the side passes less water than the outer fabric, so your feed leaves at the base rather than through the flank. On a wide, shallow pot that is doubly welcome: you water across a larger area and it stays in the substrate instead of disappearing straight through the nearest wall.
