A 16 litre fabric pot from the Boxer line, 28 centimetres wide and 26 tall. Boxer weighs 250 grams per square metre, and that number tells you more about this pot than its volume does.

What heavier fabric actually buys you

Fabric pots are sold on volume, but what really separates them is fabric weight. A cheap grow bag sits somewhere around 100 to 150 grams per square metre. Boxer is 250, and you notice the difference four ways.

The pot stands up when you fill it. Light fabric bows outwards into a barrel and loses the height you bought it for; heavy fabric holds its wall. It also means you can fill it without a second pair of hands.

Less water evaporates through the wall, so you water less often than you would with thin fabric of the same volume. A denser weave simply passes less.

The seams hold. This is where cheap bags fail first: not in the fabric but on the seam, usually as you lift a wet pot. Boxer uses an industrial lockstitch with finished edges.

And the pot comes back. Heavier fabric sheds less fibre per season, and because Boxer is deliberately non-degradable there is nothing built in to make it break down.

Sixteen litres in practice

Sixteen litres is a good final size for a plant given a normal growth phase. At 28 centimetres across you fit nine on a square metre touching, or six with walking room between them. It is slightly wider than tall, which keeps it stable.

Roots catch, they are not pruned by air

Root Pouch is not an air-pruning pot. Root tips become caught in the weave rather than growing through it, and the plant branches behind that point. The root system ends up just as dense, and the roots stay in the pot.

Frequently asked questions

Is 250 grams per square metre a lot? For a grow bag, yes. Many cheaper pots sit at around half that.

Does it stand up empty? Empty it collapses, like any fabric pot. Filled it holds its shape without support.

Can I leave it in the sun outdoors? Yes. The fabric is built for outdoor use and does not lose its shape to sunlight.

How do I store it? Rinse it, dry it completely and fold it flat. Storing it damp is the one thing that genuinely damages this fabric.
