That sounds like a mistake and it is not. Root Pouch supplies several fabric grades, and some are made to degrade in soil on a schedule running from around six months to six years. For a tree nursery that is useful: you plant the pot into the ground and the wall disappears by itself once the roots are meant to leave it.

Boxer deliberately sits outside that. This fabric is one hundred percent recycled PET with no natural fibre in it to rot, and the manufacturer states plainly that the pot is not degradable. That is not a shortcoming, it is the entire point of the line.

For you it means that at thirty litres you are not buying again every season. A pot this size that starts fraying after one crop is expensive, however cheap it was. Rinse it, dry it, store it flat and fill it again next year.

It also means: do not put this pot in the ground expecting it to dissolve. It will not. If you want a pot that disappears, this is the wrong line.

At 35 centimetres across you fit four on a square metre with working room, or eight touching. At 30 centimetres tall it is wider than it is high, which keeps it steady under a substantial plant.

Roots catch, they do not grow through

The root tip becomes caught in the weave rather than seeking air at it, and the plant branches behind that point. The practical result at this size: when you lift the pot after the crop, the ball comes with it in one piece and has not knitted itself to the floor or the mat underneath.
