Root Pouch Boxer Brown 56 Liter

A 56 litre fabric pot from the Boxer line, 43 centimetres wide and 38 tall, with handles. This is the largest Root Pouch we stock, and nowhere near the largest that exists.

Where 56 litres sits in the range

The Boxer line runs well past this size, up to containers of several hundred litres built for raising trees at nursery scale. We stop at 56 because that is the limit of what you can sensibly fill and move at home or in a grow room.

That is useful context for the question of whether this is enough. For a grow room 56 litres is generous: one plant per pot, with a substrate buffer that absorbs a missed watering without complaint. In a 120 by 120 centimetre tent you place four and the floor is full.

Filling it and moving it

Reckon on a little over one 50 litre bag of substrate per pot, and more if you mix in perlite or clay pebbles. Fill it where it is going to stand if you can: filled and wet it weighs tens of kilos, and although the handles are stitched into the seam and built for that load, it is not something to carry alone.

At 43 centimetres wide and 38 tall it is wider than it is high, which at this volume is an advantage: it stands securely, even under a top-heavy plant.

Roots catch in the weave

Root Pouch does not prune with air. Root tips become caught in the fabric and the plant branches behind them, so you get a dense root system that stays inside the pot. At 56 litres that is the difference between a ball you can lift in one piece and a pot that has fastened itself to the floor or the mat after a season.

The fabric

One hundred percent recycled PET, 250 grams per square metre, industrial lockstitch and finished seams. Deliberately non-degradable, so this pot is meant to be rinsed, dried and filled again next season.

Frequently asked questions

How many fit a 120 by 120 cm tent? Four, and then the floor is taken. If you want to walk between them, choose a smaller size.

Is there a larger size? The Boxer line runs to several hundred litres, but those sizes are meant for nurseries and we do not stock them.

Can I move it filled? Over a short distance with two people. Better to fill it in place.

How much water per watering? Ten to twelve litres, spread across the whole surface rather than into one spot.
