A square growing pot of 2 litres, 13 by 13 by 17.3 centimetres. Solid plastic wall, perforated base, tapered so it nests into its neighbour.
When a solid pot beats a fabric one
We sell fabric pots too, and on many counts they have the stronger case. Even so there are situations where an ordinary plastic pot is simply the right tool, and that is rarely said honestly.
When you have little time to water. A fabric pot evaporates through its whole wall and dries back faster for it. At two litres of substrate, in a warm room, that quickly means watering daily. A solid wall holds the moisture, so you can be away for longer.
When the pot sits in a system. Ebb and flood tables, drip systems and pots standing in a channel are designed around a fixed, rigid shape. A fabric pot slumps and makes no reliable contact with the tray beneath it.
When you move many plants in batches. A plastic pot holds its shape, stands up with nothing in it and can be picked up one-handed. Across dozens of young plants that genuinely saves time.
When you want the pot for years. Plastic does not wear at a seam and does not fray. Rinse it and fill it again, season after season.
The downside is well known and real: roots meeting the smooth wall turn and start circling, and the substrate at the bottom stays wet longer. In a two litre size, where the plant only stands for a few weeks, neither amounts to much.
What two litres is for
Two litres is the step between raising and the final pot. Large enough to carry a plant for a few weeks, small enough to dry back within a day or two so the roots get air. At 13 by 13 centimetres you fit forty-six on a square metre.

Frequently asked questions
Will the roots not circle? Over a few weeks, hardly. Leave the plant for months and they will, and then a fabric pot is the better choice.
How often will I water? Less often than fabric of the same volume. Lift the pot to feel how heavy it still is.
Will it stand up outdoors? For a season, yes. For long-term use in the sun the 25 litre with UV stabilisation is the only one in this range that says anything about it.
Why is it taller than it is wide? This size is kept narrow and deep, which suits young plants rooting downwards first.
