Fifteen by fifteen centimetres turns up three times here, in three very different builds, and the comparison is more useful than a standalone product description.

This plastic pot holds 3.5 litres over 20 centimetres of height. The 4 litre fabric Gronest sits on the same footprint and stands 18 centimetres tall. The 4 litre Garden Highpro Propot is also 15 by 15 and around 20 tall.

On your floor they are therefore interchangeable: where one fits, so does another. The difference is entirely in the wall.

The two fabric pots bring air to the roots and prune the tips, which gives you a more finely branched root system. They also dry back faster and ask for water more often. This plastic pot does the opposite: it holds moisture, stands firm, stacks and lasts for years, at the price of roots circling the wall once a plant stands in it for long.

For a short crop with many plants, or for use in a system, that is a fine trade. For a plant standing in one place for months, one of the other two is the better choice.

What 3.5 litres is for

Three and a half litres carries a plant you keep short, or serves as an intermediate before you move to 6.5 or 7 litres. With a 225 square centimetre footprint, forty-four fit on a square metre touching, and sixteen to twenty-five with working room.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix plastic and fabric? On the same floor, yes, but they want different watering schedules. Better to group them separately.

Why does the 4 litre fabric pot hold more than this 3.5? A fabric pot has straight walls and this one tapers, so at the same footprint the fabric one takes a little more.

Is there a matching saucer? Not from our range; the smallest separate saucer, at 17.4 centimetres, belongs to the 7 litre pot.

How much water per watering? Around seven decilitres, until a little runs out of the bottom.
