The same propagation kit as the AC-HDL5, with a SUNCORE heat mat underneath it. A 3 mm dome, two IONBEAM LED bars, a dome extender, a forty-cell seedling tray and bottom heat.

Heat and light belong to different stages

A seed still under the soil has no use for a lamp. What it needs is a warm root zone, because germination speed hangs on soil temperature and barely on light at all. The moment the first leaf comes up that reverses: light is what the plant is asking for, and warmth becomes a pleasant extra.

This set covers both stages, and that is exactly the difference from the version without the mat. That one starts where the seedling already stands. This one starts a step earlier, at the seed, which makes it the sensible choice if you start from seed or if the room the kit lives in is simply cold. Work mainly with rooted cuttings in a heated room and you are paying here for warmth you already have.

The heat mat

The mat sits under the base tray and warms the root zone from below, using an infrared film that spreads heat across the whole surface rather than wires you would read back as warm stripes.

You choose between a low, medium and high setting. The mat is IP67, which is not excessive in this position: water condenses under a dome and the mat lies exactly where it runs. It works on 230 volts and draws at most 20 watts, so it can stay on day and night without showing up on the meter.

The dome and the lighting

The dome is clear 3 mm PS with four vent disks, and the extender in the box takes build height from 23.1 to 27.2 cm and vent openings from two to four. The base tray is PP, the seedling tray PET with five by eight cells.

On top sit two IONBEAM bars with twelve Samsung LM301H EVO diodes each at 3000 and 5000 kelvin, 28 watts between them, IP65 and rated at 50,000 hours. The controller dims across four levels, runs a daily repeating schedule and fits AC Infinity's UIS platform.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from the AC-HDL5?
The heat mat. Dome, extender, trays, LED bars and controller are the same in both sets.

What temperature does the mat reach?
The mat has three settings: low holds 23 to 25 °C, medium 26.7 to 28 °C and high 30.6 to 31 °C. For germinating seed the low or medium setting is usually right, and high is for species that want real warmth to come up.

Can the mat get wet?
It is IP67 and built for this position. Water condenses under a dome as a matter of course.

Should the mat run all day?
During germination usually yes, because bottom heat only works if it is constant. Once the seedlings are up you can turn it down or off.

How big is the heat mat itself?
That measurement is not yet reliably established, so it is not stated here. The mat is made for this set and fits under the 36.1 by 16.7 cm base tray.
