Three hours of spraying out of a two litre tank

The label says the battery supports up to three hours of continuous spraying. Set that beside the tank capacity and a useful conclusion appears: on two litres you will never run that in one go. The tank is long empty before the battery is.

Which is exactly the point. The battery is not sized so that you just about make it, it is sized so that you stop thinking about it. You refill, carry on, refill again, and only after a good many tankfuls does charging come up. For most growers that means charging after a session rather than during one.

Why you stop pumping

With a hand pump you are doing two things at once: aiming and pumping. The pumping sets the pressure, the pressure sets the mist, and because pressure drops away as you spray, your mist changes under your hands. On foliar feeding you notice it: the start of the pass is finer than the end.

A motor pump holds pressure steady for as long as you hold the button. So you get the same mist on the last plant as on the first, and you have a hand free. The motor is also quiet enough not to startle anyone in a small room.

The nozzle

The nozzle adjusts across a wide range. Close it down and you get a focused jet for putting water at the pot without wetting the leaves. Open it up and you get a fine mist, which is the setting for foliar feeding and for keeping cuttings damp.

The tank is a thermoplastic built not to crack from weather and UV, so it can live outdoors without the material going brittle after a season.
