Why you never run two liquids through one sprayer

A pressure sprayer looks empty when the tank is empty, and it is not. Liquid always remains in the pickup tube, the hose, the lance and above all the nozzle, and that is the first thing to come out next time. Run weedkiller through it and then spray foliar feed, and your crop takes those residues directly on the leaf. It is one of the quickest ways to lose a crop, and it is entirely avoidable.

The rule growers keep is simple: one sprayer per type of liquid, labelled in permanent marker with what belongs in it. Two sprayers cost less than one failed harvest.

Can I clean it well enough to switch liquids? Usually between nutrients, yes. After a pesticide, a separate sprayer is safer than hoping you rinsed thoroughly enough.

What is the relief valve for? It vents pressure if you over-pump. It is a safety device, not a setting.

Is 5 or 8 litres better? Full, 8 litres weighs considerably more. Choose 5 litres if you spray for long stretches.

Can I put acid in it? Strongly acidic or aggressive solutions need a sprayer with resistant seals. This one is intended for nutrients, weed control and water.
