The AquaKing Q2001 flat suction pump does something no ordinary submersible can: it keeps pumping until roughly 2 millimetres of water is left. Every other pump in this range stops once the level drops below its intake, leaving a layer you have to mop or bail out.
Why that last layer is the whole point
When emptying a tank, a pond or a flooded floor, the work is not in the first hundred litres but in the last centimetre. A high-pressure pump readily leaves five centimetres behind. In a tank 60 cm across that is still around fourteen litres, and across a twenty square metre cellar floor five centimetres is a cubic metre of water with nowhere to go. The flat suction pump simply carries on until the floor is all but dry.
What to use it for
As a cellar pump when water gets in, for draining a tank or reservoir completely before cleaning it, and for emptying a pond, aquarium or pool. Anywhere the goal is not to move water but to get something genuinely empty.
Clean water only, and that is not a detail
The Q2001 handles solids up to 0.5 mm and is not suitable for sand. If you are clearing muddy water or a sump with sediment, choose a pump rated for 5 mm solids instead. Sand is the fastest way to destroy a flat suction pump: it wears the impeller and the seal. For clear water from a tank or off a floor, it is exactly the right tool.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use it to empty a tank with nutrient residue? Only if the water is clear. Sediment on the bottom of a nutrient tank soon exceeds 0.5 mm.
Will it lift water out of a deep well? No. At 3 metres head it lifts three metres, and only with sharply falling output. For height, choose the high-pressure pump.
Why does it move fewer litres than the others? Because that is not its job. A flat suction pump is built to work low and dry, not to shift volume quickly.
Can it run dry? Do not let it run dry needlessly. Unplug it once the surface is merely wet rather than covered.
