The AquaKing Q4003 reaches 8 metres of water column. That figure, not the 7000 litres per hour, decides whether this pump can do your job. Head is the specification growers most often skip and most often get caught by.

What 8 metres head means in practice

Eight metres of water column is the height at which the pump is only just still moving water, at close to zero output. Useful work happens well below that. A rule of thumb that holds up well: reckon on roughly half the maximum head for output worth having. For this pump, about four metres.

Add up the whole route, not just the height

Measure the difference between the water level and the point where the water comes out. That is your baseline. Then add the resistance of the hose, which behaves like extra height. Length, narrow bore, a kink and every bend all count. A three metre cellar with ten metres of hose to the outside is not a three metre job but closer to five.

Why not simply take the biggest model

The model above pumps 11,000 litres per hour but reaches 8.5 metres of head: barely any more height. Buying more litres therefore buys no extra reach. If your job sits at the limit of what this pump manages, the bigger model is not the answer and the high-pressure pump is.

Can it lift water four metres? Yes, at a clearly lower output than 7000 litres per hour. Keep the hose short and wide to retain as much as possible.
