Foldable water reservoir 250 liter

The 250 litre foldable water tank is big enough that you will not want to fill or empty it with buckets. You do not have to: it comes with a click fitting for a garden hose and a drain tap at the base, and between them no bucket is involved at all.

Filling: a click fitting instead of carrying

The supplied click fitting is the standard garden hose system that suits nearly every outdoor tap. Clip the hose on and let it run. Two hundred and fifty litres from an ordinary outdoor tap takes roughly fifteen to twenty minutes depending on your pressure. Stay with it or set a timer: the tank has an overflow, but the overflow discharges wherever the tank happens to be standing.

Emptying: let gravity do it

The drain tap sits at the bottom, so you draw off into a watering can, a bucket, or straight into a hose running to your beds. Raise the tank twenty or thirty centimetres and you keep enough head to run a hose until the tank is nearly empty. Without that lift the flow stops as soon as the level reaches the tap, leaving a layer of water you can only get out by tilting.

Decide this before you fill

Work out which way the tap should face and whether a watering can fits under it. Filled, a 250 litre tank weighs 250 kilos and is not going to be moved. Set it level, clear of anything sharp, with the tap on the side you actually want to use.

Frequently asked questions

Will the click fitting suit my hose? It is the common click system most garden hose sets use. If yours is an unusual brand, an adaptor is widely available.

Can I put a submersible pump in it? Yes. Sit the pump flat on the base and make sure no sharp edges press into the fabric.

Why does it not drain completely through the tap? The tap sits slightly above the base. Raise the tank for more head, or tilt the last of it towards the tap once the tank is nearly empty.

Do I need to empty it in winter? Yes. Freezing water expands and loads the seams and the tap.
