Cable pass-through with a double sock and drawstring, Ø 70 mm. For power, sensors and everything that is not air.

Feed your cables through before the plugs go on

This is the ordering mistake most people make once, and it costs an evening.

A Ø 70 mm port sounds generous, and it is, for cable. For plugs it is a different matter. A moulded mains plug, a timer block or the housing of an LED driver is bulky, and as soon as you try to push three or four through at once you are stuck. The drawstring then has to stay open enough to pass them, so it can no longer be pulled tight, and light leaks past.

The practical rule: feed the cables through before you fit them, and only then draw the cord. For devices with a fixed plug that cannot come off, decide in advance which side of the canvas that device will live on.

Why cables get a port of their own

It is tempting to take a cable through the air sock as well. Two reasons not to. An air sock sits tight around your ducting, and pushing a cable in beside it leaves a gap that will not close, precisely around the cable. And every time you pull on that cable, you move your ducting with it.

The double sock also works as two seals in series: if one does not close fully around a thicker cable, the second catches it.

Frequently asked questions

How many cables fit through?
Several, but reckon on the thickness of your plugs rather than your cables. Feed them through before fitting them.

Can I run ducting through this?
No. For air use a DF16 or DF25 port; this sock is for cables.

What if I want to move it later?
Cut a new port and close the old one with a 100 mm PatchIT7.
