Why there is a size between 150 and 200

At first glance Ø 160 mm is the odd one out. The series runs 150, 160, 200, 250: steps of tens everywhere except here.

That is because 160 mm is not a growing size but a ventilation size. In European duct ventilation Ø 160 mm is a standard format, and many inline fans and flexible ducts are made in it. Anyone buying extraction from a ventilation wholesaler rather than a grow shop will meet it sooner or later.

Without this connector you would have to reduce to 150 mm in that case, and a reducer is exactly the joint you want to avoid. Going 160 to 150 sounds like nothing, but it is where the flow starts to hiss and where your duct clamp never quite seats.

In short: if you have a 160 mm fan or duct, take this one. Do not settle for the 150 because it saves a search. The difference in diameter is small; the difference between having a reducer and not having one is not.
